The man is a linebacker for the Detroit Lions. His wife is a professional runner. The two of them were the most kind and enjoyable people I could hope for. And those are my dumb friends in the background.

He had the voice of John Goodman and a way cool face.

  The gentleman in this photo is Josh Greenbaum, a writer of comedy for television. Delightful customers were they. Hairy legs had he.

More great people. These two were so in love I just had to put a heart. That one's for you Kevin Reuter. I know you love the hearts. One last thing. I shoulda done the guys lip different because you can see in the photo that its thick all the way across.

I thought I'd post somebody else's art on here for a change. This is my favorite artist ever. His name is Ronald Searle. Observe his keen sense of composition and his muted color. Marvel at his gritty and observational cartooning.

Deleted Scenes

A lot of good things happened in this Asian kid drawing even though I feel like I completely missed my main objective which was to make it real clean and organized looking.

This is my least favorite of the batch, but my friends all like this one, prolly cuz of the posture or something.

I scratched this one out pretty fast, but I like the proportions of it and her face.

Number 1 Dap

I like the way his body turned out. I kinda like how her face turned out. I like the shimmer of the background water. Eveything else, take it or leave it.

A Good Customer

  I had the awesomest customer yesterday. I was drawin' Puff Daddy or P Diddy or Vincent Schiavelli with Sunglasses from a magazine and this ten foot tall black guy, about my age was just lovin on it. He decided he wanted to get drawn by me, so I did just that. While the sketch was taking place this guy was so full of good humor and love of life, he just livened up the whole stand. Halfway through the sketch the guy tells me he looks at cartoon blogs for inspiration also. He said he looks at the blog of the guy who did Ren and Stimpy, and I'm all "No kiddin! I go there to. That site is great." So, long story long, He was real cool and so were his friends. The thing happened that I always want to happen, but very seldomly does, and that's me doing a drawing from a magazine or something, somebody coming by and, being sufficiently impressed, decides to get drawn by me. It happens so seldomly, that when it does happen, it catches me off guard and I forget to enjoy it until the end. Usually, somebody will come up and be like, "Wow, that looks awesome! Let's get drawn by another artist." This fat paragraph is about over. Last thing I like to say is, good sir, if you find the blog, thanks for bein so cheerful. Keep drawin. Check out my links.

  And...Speaking of links. I'm adding a couple links. First, you gotta check out Uncle Eddie's Theory Corner. He has the craziest cartooniest oldesh man face you've ever seen. He does these little five to ten minute Youtube bits. He just explains his theories about art and music and stuff, and is delightfully expressive.

  The other spot is John K's blog. Most of you probably already been there, but if not, check it out. He's very intelligent and opinionated. He writes incessantly about the nitty-gritty elements of cartooning as an artform.

What's Ol' Aaron Been Up To?

  Here's a body I was pretty happy with. The face turned out good too, but I didn't get a picture of the kid. Aside from the wierd mistake in the shark's gums and the bad, hatchy texture of his body surface, I consider this a success.

  What an arm I gave that guy. It didn't look wierd to me at the time, but it looks way wierd now.

  This is the progress I've made on the Kobe that I originally posted only on the beastheads site. I don't think I'm gonna finish it because it has come to my attention that Kobe's neck juts out forward, which I totally didn't notice, and the mistake of putting his head where I put it would take too long to fix that it wouldn't be worth it to me. I guess this is the disadvantage of not painting digitally.

  I'm runnin out of books right quick, since we didn't print so many. If you'd like to order one, drop me an email at aphilby@gmail.com. The book is $5 plus $1 for postage, so that's $6. It contains fifty cartoons. So, like I said, send me an email. I'll reply in one of two ways. I'll either say something like "send me the money and I'll send you a book" or something like "Sorry. All out." So if you wanna do this, then lets do this. If it's too shady and unprofessional for you, hopefully we make more copies and maybe we'll set up a paypal thing and you can wait till then. Thanks for looking at my blog everybody. I'm going to be getting a computer as soon as I get that $600 in my bank account, and then I'll be postin like a crazy man.
