Some Live Caricatures

This was a really fun couple. He had a great George Bush feel to his face. She had on an oversized coat. At first, I made a small mistake with his mouth shape, but I fixed it somehow with a cast shadow underneath the nose which led me to cast shadows everywhere, which ended up adding a neat little feel to the drawing, and my marker was nice and juicy and singin pretty for me.

Saemee was inquiring about the nose on the guy. She couldn't make sense of which direction it was pointing. I think it must have been the bridge that was confusing her. He had a very harsh and narrow nose bridge so I felt the need to draw that thin inside line which makes it seem like the nose is at a 3/4 angle, but the bottom, nosey part of the nose is actually in complete profile. It's a pig nose when seen from the front. Usually when I see a pig nose I try to show it, but I don't know. I guess I didn't, but I got that low hanging nostril hood at least.

These guys were super awesome. They were excited about getting a caricature from the get go. Koreans often ask you not to draw their braces, and at one point, I started getting this feel like the guy with the braces was maybe talking about his braces and about to ask me not to draw them so I drew them right away and just as I finished...yup. He asked me if I could leave them out and I said "Oh. I'm sorry I already drew them," which was true. And he said. "Oh. Ok." Anyway, long story short, when I finished the drawing and showed them they absolutely ate it up. The guy on the left (our left) was laughing really hard. That was fun.

At the outset, I didn't say "Gee, I wanna hang his lip over her face, but it happened, and it didn't really hurt the drawing, but it did help the drawing look weird.

Pretty girl, Ugly guy is the oldest trick in the book, but at least I made her have broken fingers.
