Oh man, I haven't checked in here for a while and there's a lot of amazing stuff. A few postings down there's a GORGEOUS painting of La Jolla! You have a great gift, sir:)

I don't understand the formalism(?) paintings though, or what you're trying to do with them.

As I understand it, formalism means making images with an aim to please theeye with shapes and color and composition and such and not intending for it to resemble something from reality.

So with this project, I want to create pleasing forms and shapes and colors and compositions and eventually gravitate toward recognizable forms and figures, and hopefully, one day have a realistic painting with an optimally pleasing compositoin.

The catch is that I want to second guess myself the whole way and not get attached to an idea. I want to respond to the slightest instinct to change anything, which acrylic is perfect for.
